According to statistics, 59% of consumers say that celebrity endorsements influence their purchase decisions and behavior.
Are you thinking of trying out a celebrity alcohol brand?
Nowadays, it feels like celebrity products and brand endorsements are everywhere. Whether it's perfumes, cosmetics, or alcohol, celebs are leveraging their fame to market their own products and cash in on collaborations.
Predictably, a lot of celebrity-endorsed and founded products don't live up to the hype. With a celeb's name to boost sales numbers, product quality often feels like an afterthought. Research shows that a celebrity endorsement alone can boost sales numbers by 4%, which can equate to millions for big labels.
But, when it comes to celebrity alcohol brands, there are some that truly stand out.
Are you keen to find out which celeb alcohol brands live up to their founder's name? Keep reading to discover which celebrity alcohol brands to try in 2022.
Aviation Gin
If you love trying finely crafted spirits and liqueurs, you've probably noticed the "ginaissance" that's been sweeping through the states. A lot of connoisseurs credit this wave of craft gins to Aviation Gin.
Aviation Gin wasn't started by a celebrity, but after trying this market-making gin in 2018, Ryan Reynolds decided to invest in the brand. Acquiring a minority stake, the Canadian actor became co-owner and defacto ambassador for the brand.
Although Ryan wasn't part in the original development of Aviation Gin, his involvement went beyond slapping a celebrity name on a product. According to him, he bought into the company because he "loves the taste of Aviation more than any other spirit."
And, we can't say we blame him.
Crafted in small, 100-case batches through a unique distilling process, Aviation Gin is dry, but not too dry, ultra smooth on the palate, and serves up subtle top notes of floral juniper and peppery spice, undercut by a base layer of citrus.
King St. Vodka
Another show-stopping celebrity vodka we can't say enough good things about is Kate Hudson's King St. Vodka. Like the other celebrity liquor brands on this list, King St. Vodka didn't come about as a marketing tactic.
Instead, the idea originated after Kate hosted a cocktail party and realized that she didn't like any of the vodkas in her repertoire. She also realized that none were produced by women.
Fueled by these two realizations, Kate Hudson decided to take the entrepreneurial path and found her own vodka. Named after her previous Manhattan home where she had fond memories of entertaining family and friends, King St. Vodka ticks all of the boxes.
It is gluten-free, non-GMO, made from alkaline water, and distilled seven times for top-notch purity. The result? One of the smoothest finishes imaginable.
Crystal Head Vodka
Crystal Head Vodka is founded by Dan Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live star, and comes in an attention-grabbing bottle in the shape of a skull.
Packaging stunts like this usually don't go hand in hand with superior quality liquor—but Crystal Head is a complete exception.
Not only does the bottle look cool, but its contents are also incredibly fancy. Distilled from agave, Crystal Head vodka sports notes of honey, as well as smooth accents of coconut, and a whisper of clove on the finish.
And where does the skull fit it? Inspired by Day of the Dead and Oaxaca, Mexico.
Heaven’s Door Whiskey
Not only has Bob Dylan created more than 600 songs and 50 albums—but he is also behind a killer whiskey line. The aptly named Heaven's Door range features a selection of straight-up award-winning whiskeys.
While they're all legendary, one of our favorites has to be the Straight Rye Whiskey. This interesting rye whiskey breaks away from conventional brewing traditions. After aging for 7 years, it's then finished off in toasted oak cigar barrels which are harvested and dried in France.
Thanks to this unusual finish, the Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whiskey is one of the smoothest and most sippable ryes on the market.
If you like your liquor to look good on the bar, you'll also appreciate the artwork that went into the Heaven's Door bottles which are a representation of the gate design at Bob Dylan's metalworking studio.
Dos Hombres Mezcal
You're probably thinking it's high time we mentioned a mezcal on this list of celebrity alcohol brands. Launched in 2019, Dos Hombres Mezcal is the beverage baby of Breaking Bad leads Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston.
Apparently, the two actor friends wanted to work together on something. Instead of a screenplay, they decided to tour through Mexico in search of the perfect mezcal that they both liked. Almost by chance, the pair stumbled on a practically unknown mezcal operation a few hours out of Oaxaca, run by Gregorio Velasco, a third-generation mezcal maker.
After sampling Gregorio's recipe, the two Breaking Bad stars realized they had hit mezcal mecca.
Dos Hombres is named in commemoration of the two actor's friendship. It has a soft mouthfeel, and hints of citrus, mint, and vanilla. Moderately sweet and soft, this mezcal isn't heavy on the smoke, making it an ideal "gateway" mezcal.
The pour on the Dos Hombres is incredibly smooth, meaning you can drink this mezcal on the rocks with no problem.
Teremana Tequila
Topping the list of tequilas is Teremana. Teremana is Dwayne Johson's tequila brand. It really seems like whatever The Rock touches turns out successful, and Teremana is no different.
Since its launch, Teremana has become one of the fastest-growing celebrity liquor brands in history, and the fastest-growing tequila. This is an impressive claim to fame.
Unsurprisingly, The Rock's tequila company didn't just happen overnight. It only launched in 2020 and enjoyed almost overnight success—but Dwayne Johnson had wanted to create a tequilla brand for over a decade.
After joining forces with three other co-founders, the next step was partnering with a family-owned distiller in Mexico. The result? A refreshing tequila with a herbal nose, earthy and citrusy notes, and hints of vanilla and peppery spice.
With a good amount of agave and lemon zest on the palate, Teremana Tequila is beautifully crisp, with a smooth finish and lingering notes.
Although it's distilled in handmade copper pots and clocks in at 80-proof—and has all the markings of a fine tequila—Teremana is surprisingly affordable, making it one of the best celebrity alcohol brands to try if you're watching your wallet.
Casamigos Blanco Tequila
Coming in a strong second as far as tequila goes is the Casamigos Blanco Tequilla. Founded by another of Hollywood's leading men, George Clooney, Casamigos is a favorite among both tequila connoisseurs and a-listers.
Clooney and his co-founder Rande Gerber say that their vision was to create the smoothest and best-tasting tequila, one which didn't need covering up with lime or salt. And, it seems like they delivered.
After tasting hundreds of drams (something Clooney doesn't recommend) they found a distiller who was serving up the type of tequila they had in mind. One that's impeccably smooth, with no burn, and super tasty.
Casamigos Blanco Tequila is silky on the palate, with rich vanilla tones, a hint of mint, and a creamy feel. A long warm finish leaves traces of the mint and vanilla with no harshness.
Besides an incredible tequila, Casamigos also released a very good mezcal.
George Clooney is no longer an owner of the brand, but this hasn't impacted the quality of Casamigos Blanco Tequila.
Wild Turkey Longbranch Bourbon
In honor of his Southern roots, Matthew McConaughey has partnered up with Wild Turkey to bring us Longbranch. The name is a tribute to welcoming gestures and family trees.
Wild Turkey isn't the most high-end bourbon, in fact, it's often considered a budget option.
Although the price is right, Longbranch doesn't taste like a budget bourbon in any way. This small batch bourbon has a sweet bouquet of vanilla, caramel, and toffee, with layers of nutmeg and oak.
Overall the nose is bright and relatively mild.
On the palate front, Wild Turkey Longbranch Bourbon has a creamy mouthfeel along with sweet zesty notes of orange and honey. The finish features a pop of heat with a wave of mild dryness, spice and caramel trailing down, and a whisper of smoke at the end.
SelvaRey Rum
If you enjoy a rum cocktail and have yet to try Buno Mars' SevlvaRey, 2022 is the year.
Launched back in 2014 along with the Silk Sonic album release, SelvaRey features 9 different rums, one for each song in the album. However, SelvaRey wasn't just a fun marketing gimmick for the album launch.
Instead, it was meant to push the boundaries and change how people view rum. Just like his songs. Bruno's rum brand is sexy, fun, and just the right ingredient for a party.
With its round-topped cork, gold seal, and medallion, SelvaRey Rum's packaging serves celebratory champagne-like vibes.
On the inside of the bottle, the bev is easy drinking to the extreme, with palates rich in flavor tones like marshmallow, toffee, turbinado, creme brûlée, and dashes of spice such as white pepper.
Overall, SelvaRey Rum has distinctively clean, light, sweet finishes that end off with just the right bit of burn.
In summary, we'd vote this rum range as, wink, 24K magic.
Black Irish
Mariah Carey isn't just a sweet voice, this chart-topping diva is also an intrepid entrepreneur. The only celebrity liqueur on our list, Black Magic marks Mariah Carey's foray into the celebrity liquor space.
Named in tribute to Mariah's mixed heritage, Black Irish launched last year, leaving many people wondering why the acclaimed singer went with liqueur. Mariah is one of the few celebrities to pick the liqueur niche (which has been declining in recent years) over more popular liquor types like vodka, whisky, or wine.
In response, the Queen of Christmas said she avoids most hard liquor and has always had a sweet tooth, so Irish cream was the obvious choice.
Black Irish comes in three expressions, Salted Caramel, White Chocolate, and Original Irish Cream. Crafted to be better than the market leader, all of them feature a blend of aged Irish whiskey and fresh dairy cream. The white chocolate expression features Belgian white chocolate, and the Salted Caramel leads with buttery notes, followed by sweet dairy cream, then mellow whiskey, and a sea salt caramel peak.
According to Mariah Carey herself, the Salted Caramel expression is particularly delicious drunk on the rocks.
Maison No. 9 Rosé
Post Malone is one of the most successful hip-hop artists currently, and his rise to fame has been rapid. However, one thing sets him apart from his celeb peers. He's made more money since he released his debut single than a lot of singers make in their entire careers.
One of the reasons for this is his various brand deals and business ventures.
When Post Malone decided to dip his toes into the beverage scene, he did it in an unexpected way. Instead of picking a hard liquor, he decided to launch a delicate rosé.
The bottle is a blush tone of pink and features a rambling rose climbing a sword, inspired by his favorite tarot card, the nine of swords.
Post Malone might seem like an unlikely wine-maker, but Maison No.9 leaves just about nothing wanted from its body and flavor profile.
Produced in the heart of sunny Provence in the French Riviera, this tasty rosé has a beautifully smooth body and bursts with fresh notes of succulent peaches.
