The 2020 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is gorgeous. Crushed red berry, spice, leather, mint and rose petal all grace this exquisite, silky Valmaggiore. The aromatics alone are so beguiling, but all the elements are so nicely balanced. The 2020 is compelling today, but will be even better in another few years. Drink Window: 2024-2035. (Antonio Galloni)
Wine Tasting Notes
Valmaggiore is renowned for its captivating Nebbiolo aromas, and this particular vintage showcases the Roero region's full potential. The scents of sour dark cherries, wild strawberries, pomegranate seeds, and currant gracefully emerge from the glass, creating a harmonious and well-balanced experience on the palate.
The wine itself is characterized by its delicate nature, medium body, and elegant profile, where the fruit, mineral, and acid elements seamlessly intertwine. The finish is marked by ripe tannins and a lingering aftertaste that leaves a lasting impression.
Overall, this Valmaggiore wine presents itself as a generous and approachable option, exuding a sweet expression that is complemented by a well-rounded finish. The final notes of the wine are both balanced and ripe, culminating in a subtle mineral touch that adds depth to the overall tasting experience.
