Robert Mondavi Wine
Robert Mondavi has been a big-time name in the wine industry since the 1960s and continues to line the market shelves with his vast array of red and white wines.
Let's learn more about the beginning of the Mondavi brand, the selection of wines they offer, and their pledge to be a more sustainable winery.
Be sure to drink your wines responsibly!
The Robert Mondavi Winery
Let's start at the beginning. In 1966, Mondavi dreamed of entering the wine industry and rising to the top with the big wine names. He set his sights on To Kalon Vineyard and decided to call it home for his future wine endeavors.
The To Kalon Vineyard is in Napa Valley, California, and produces some of Napa Valley's most exceptional wines. His "first-growth vineyard" produces spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, making it a producer of red and white wine. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes create his signature wine, Fumé Blanc.
The winery was one of the first to start up after Prohibition. Around this time, there were only twenty other wineries in the Napa Valley region. Mondavi's goal was to not only create Napa Valley wines, but to create some of the world's finest wines for wine lovers to experience.
Mondavi created the namesake winery to invite people inside. That wasn't the typical blueprint for wineries at the time. Mondavi wanted people to come in and experience the wine-making process firsthand. Mondavi took the time to create a legendary vineyard with his innovative mind and openness to change the way wineries operated.
Robert Mondavi Wines
Since Mondavi's start, the collection of Robert Mondavi wines has grown immensely.
The Robert Mondavi brand carries many different red wines, white wines, and even rosé.
With such a wide collection, let's break things down.
Reds
Let's start with the red wines. At Robert Mondavi, you'll find the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines, Pinot Noirs, and Red Blends.
Several of Mondavi's Wines are 90+ Point Wines. Wines that achieve a 90+ point ranking means the wine is extraordinary. Publications like Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, and Wine Enthusiast publish the wine rankings. Here are a couple of honorable mentions.
First, we have an impeccable Cabernet that was rated a 97 by Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Mondavi The Reserve. This Cabernet is a To Kalon Reserve that checks all the boxes. It's complex, with layers of flavors that are delicious, intense, and rich. The Reserve has flavors of dark fruits, sweet oak spices, vanilla, and toasted almonds. With an undeniable smoothness and no harsh tannins, this Cabernet is well-rounded with a great finish.
Next, we have another Mondavi Cabernet that was rated 94 by Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Mondavi 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville. With deep flavors of black plum, currant, molasses, and vanilla, the palate is intense and bright.
Cabernet pairs impeccably with steak, lamb, and burgers. Or make a charcuterie board with an assortment of your favorite cheese and cured meat. You can't go wrong with a cheese board. They're a big hit.
Whites
Moving on to the white wines, Mondavi has everything from a Chardonnay to a Sauvignon Blanc. And if you love a glass of bright Rosé, there's something for you, too!
For wine lovers leaning towards Chardonnay, Mondavi has several different options. Crisp, clean, and balanced, we have the Robert Mondavi Napa Chardonnay 2018. It's a classic option that's exactly what a Chardonnay should be. This Chardonnay is sensationally balanced and fresh from notes of juicy peach and ripe pear and warm with notes of hazelnut and toasted almonds. Serve it when it's nice and chilled for the ultimate experience.
Looking for a buttery chardonnay? If you love a buttery chardonnay, then Robert Mondavi Private Selection California Buttery Chardonnay is the perfect Chardonnay for you. It's a private selection of Chardonnay that's rich, creamy, and decadent with flavors of vanilla bean, toasted oak, and baking spices.
Chardonnay pairs deliciously with cheesy or buttery pasta, fish, and roasted chicken. Chardonnay works well with an assortment of different cheeses, both fresh and aged.

Robert Mondavi helped create the NSWG, Napa Sustainable Wine-growing Group. The NSWG is responsible for holding workshops educating others on important issues in the wine industry, such as water conservation, erosion control, and cover cropping.
And that's just the beginning. The Robert Mondavi Winery was the first to achieve an Innovator Award from California's Environmental Protection Agency. They're committed!
