Jack Daniel's Whiskey
Jack Daniel's is the American whiskey all know and love. It remains a best-selling American whiskey brand year after year!
Let's explore Jack Daniel's legacy from the beginning to the present.
Jack Daniel & The Beginning
Jack Daniel, formally known as Jasper Newton Daniel, is the man behind the founding of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey.
It all started in 1864 when the Reverend took Jack in. The Reverend and "an enslaved man named Nathan "Nearest" Green" taught Jack about whiskey-making. Nathan would eventually become Jack's Master Distiller at the Jack Daniel Distillery.
Two years later, Jack launched into the world of whiskey making, and his distillery became the first registered distillery in the United States.
Jack would eventually leave the whiskey business to his nephew, Lem Motlow. He and his younger brother Jess Motlow, who would become the Master Distiller, saw many trying times during Prohibition and the Great Depression; however, the Jack Daniel's brand made it through and continued to thrive.
Since its launch, the Jack Daniel's whiskey brand has become a worldwide success and one of the best-selling whiskies on the market.
Jack Daniel's Whiskey Distillery & Whiskey-Making Process
Lynchburg, Tennessee, in Moore County, has been home to the Jack Daniel's Distillery and barrel house for over a century and a half. Lynchburg is where all the Jack Daniel's magic happens.
The Jack Daniel Distillery uses limestone spring water to make its delicious whiskey, and it makes all the difference. The current mash recipe is the original recipe that Jack started with. With the perfect balance of corn, rye, and barley, you get Jack Daniel's whiskey.
The whiskey goes through a charcoal mellowing process for roughly three to five days. The whiskey runs down 10 feet of hard sugar maple charcoal to create a smooth nature in the whiskey that's worth it in the end.
The whiskey ages in unique handcrafted barrels that are made of white oak. The barrels are seen as much more than just storage. The barrel is just as much an ingredient as the mash itself.
Jack Daniel's Whiskey
Here's the breakdown of Jack Daniel's whiskies.
Starting with the original, the classic, the one and only, Jack Daniel's Old No. 7. Staying true to how it was done 150 years ago by Jack Daniel himself, Old No. 7 is sweet and oaky and everything you want a whiskey to be. That's how Jack Daniel's remains one of the best-selling American whiskey brands year after year.
Single barrel! Jack Daniel's also has a collection of single-barrel whiskies that you'll want in your liquor cabinet. From Single Barrel Rye to Single Barrel Select, the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel collection is premium whiskey that's meticulously made.
Next, we have Gentleman Jack, the whiskey you reach for when you want something smooth and extraordinary. With decadent notes of caramel and vanilla, Gentleman Jack pays tribute to the founder, Jack Daniel.
Next, we have the excited bonded whiskies. They're innovative and set the bar high for everyone to follow. We have two timeless options, Jack Daniel's Bonded and Jack Daniel's Triple Mash.

Jack Cocktails
Here are two cocktails recipes that you'll enjoy! If you want something refreshing, make the Lynchburg Lemonade. If you want something mellow and classic, try out the Jack Sour.
Lynchburg Lemonade
Starting with one of the most famous Jack Daniel's cocktails, we have a Lynchburg Lemonade, named after the home of Jack Daniel's Whiskey.
If you're lounging by the sun or even enjoying an evening in, here's what you'll need for a deliciously refreshing Lynchburg Lemonade:
-
1 part Triple sec
-
Splash of fresh lemon juice
-
Simple syrup (adjust to taste)
-
Lemon-lime soda
instructions
Start by filling your cocktail glass with a handful of ice. Over your ice, add your whiskey, triple sec, a splash of fresh lemon juice, and your simple syrup. Give it a stir. Top off with a lemon-lime soda of your choosing and give it another quick stir.
Garnish with a lemon wedge. Serve and enjoy!
Whiskey Sour
Let's keep things classic for our second recipe with a tasty Whiskey Sour. Here's what you'll need to get started:
-
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
-
3/4 oz simple syrup
-
1 egg white (optional)
-
1 orange slice
-
1 maraschino cherry
instructions
If using an egg white in your cocktail scares you, ignore it!
In a cocktail shaker, add your whiskey, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white. Dry shake for 10 seconds. (A dry shake is just a shake without ice.)
Once you're done with your dry shake, add a handful of ice to your cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Serve and enjoy!
