The History Behind Ciroc Vodka
When you think of Cîroc Vodka, you automatically think of Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy. But here's a fun fact you might not expect, Diddy does not own Cîroc. Although Diddy doesn't own the company, he is the face behind the brand.
It's Jean-Sébastien Robicquet that created the vodka brand. Before diving into the vodka industry, Jean Sebastien Robicquet obtained several degrees, including a degree in Oenology and a Masters in law, economics, and management of the wine industry. He wanted to make a premium vodka, and that's how Cîroc Vodka was born in 2003.
By 2007, Robicquet needed a familiar, famous face to make sales explode. The brand wasn't doing as well as he expected and needed an extra push. That's where Diddy came in. Diddy took on the marketing division of Cîroc, and the frenzy began. Sales began to skyrocket. Liquor brands began to notice the popularity that came with associating a celebrity with their brand.
After Diddy took over, Cîroc was on the map. After a couple of years with Diddy on board, Cîroc became number two in the vodka industry, right behind Grey Goose Vodka.
What Does Cîroc Mean?
Cîroc comes from the combination of two French words. Cîroc combines two words, "cime," meaning peak, and "roche," meaning rock. Together, you have Cîroc. This references the high altitude vineyards where Cîroc's French grapes come from.
Fine French Grapes
The fine French grapes set Cîroc Vodka apart from the rest of the vodkas on the market. The grapes change everything. Typically, most vodkas are made from rye. Other grains may include sorghum, corn, rice, and wheat. It's not as common that vodka is made with French grapes, specifically Ugni Blanc and Mauzac Blanc. The grapes and high-altitude vineyards bring out the fruit character to create a high-quality vodka.
Cîroc does not use grain in its distillation process. Distilled five times, Cîroc is made using French grapes that give the vodka a distinctive character you can taste. It elevates your drinking experience.
