1800 Tequila! Bottled in the iconic pyramid-shaped bottles, 1800 Tequila is character, quality, and experience wrapped into a collection of exquisite tequilas.
Let's learn about what 1800 Tequila was known by before, the tequila-making process, the long-standing original recipe, the tequila collection, and the iconic bottle.
And we have some 1800 Tequila cocktail recipes that are delicious and refreshing to get you started!
Before It Was Known As 1800 Tequila
1800 Tequila wasn't always known as 1800 Tequila. Before it was known as 1800 Tequila, it was known as Cuervo 1800 Tequila. Cuervo sounds familiar, doesn't it? 1800 Tequila is owned by the Beckmann family, who also owns the popular and well-known Jose Cuervo brand of spirits.
Eventually, they shortened the name to 1800 Tequila, after the year that tequila was aged in oak casks for the first time. 1800 Tequila pays tribute to the history of tequila-making.
The Tequila-Making Process & The Original Recipe
1800 Tequila has been around for more than 200 years and continues to stay true to its roots. 1800 Tequila has been distilled under the original recipe for the last two centuries. Dedicated and devoted to tequila's origins, the blue agave plant that makes up 1800 Tequila comes from the "original Weber blue agave fields."
1800 Tequila is made with 100% Weber blue agave plant and uses mostly American oak and a small portion of French oak barrels to rest their tequilas. The tequila production is in Jalisco, Mexico, where tequila thrives and flourishes.
Classic Tequila: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo
Each tequila brand has three staples that run the show: the Blanco, the Reposado, and the Añejo. 1800 Tequila is no different.
1800 Blanco Tequila, otherwise known as the Silver Tequila, kicks us off with its sweet prune and roasted pepper flavor. Made with 100% Weber blue agave and double distilled, the 1800 Blanco Tequila is a complex, premium option with a medium finish if you're looking to enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in a refreshing cocktail.
1800 Reposado Tequila is a decadent option with notes of caramel, smokiness, and spices. The 1800 Reposado Tequila is made with 100% Weber blue agave and rests in new American and French oak barrels.
And finally, 1800 Añejo Tequila is nutty and rich with toffee flavors and vanilla aromas. The Añejo is made with 100% Weber blue agave like its counterparts. It's luxurious and perfect for sipping on slowly.
Luxury 1800 Tequila
If you're looking for something rich and luxurious, 1800 Tequila has two options you will want to take advantage of.
Let's start with the ultra-premium 1800 Cristalino. The 1800 Cristalino is a clear Añejo finished in port wine barrels. Aged in American and French oak barrels, it's silky with a subtle nuttiness and citrus freshness. 1800 Cristalino can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a smooth cocktail.
Next, we have 1800 Milenio. The 1800 Milenio is an extra-aged French oak cognac barrel that gives the tequila a uniquely soft flavor. It has balanced notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and red fruits. The finish, which has a mint chocolate nature, might surprise you. This is luxury at its finest.
The Iconic 1800 Bottle
The 1800 bottle is different from your usual tequila bottle. It's unlike the rest.
The shape of the 1800 bottle pays tribute in honor of the Mayan pyramids. It has seen some changes over the years. Now, the bottle is stretched out and slimmer than before, but it will still catch your eye just the same.
The luxury bottles stand out among the rest. The 1800 Cristalino is textured and sleek, giving it a rich feel. The 1800 Milenio is tall and elegant, showcasing the delicate golden amber liquid.
1800 Tequila Cocktail Recipes
1800 Tequila makes exquisite alcoholic beverages; after all, tequila was made for making deliciously refreshing cocktails! And an excellent old-fashioned margarita will fix just about anything. Since 1800 Tequila is all about staying true to what's classic and original, here are two margarita recipes to try.
Classic Margarita
Let's start with a classic tequila margarita. Sometimes simple is best and, in this case, not much beats a nicely chilled, perfectly balanced margarita. For this refreshing cocktail, you'll need the following:
-
2 parts 1800 Blanco Tequila
-
1 part orange liqueur
-
1 part lime juice (adjust to taste)
-
Some coarse salt
-
A few Lime wedges
instructions
Start by running a lime wedge along the rim of your margarita glass. Dip into coarse salt and set aside. Add silver tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and a handful of ice in a cocktail shaker. If you like your cocktails with a little sweetness, add some simple syrup or agave nectar. Shake thoroughly. Into your prepared glass, strain over a fresh handful of ice.
Serve and enjoy!
Spicy Margarita
Classic margaritas are great, but sometimes you want something with a little kick. We have a Spicy Margarita for spice lovers that will leave your mouth watering and make you want a second round. For this spicy cocktail, you'll need the following:
-
2 parts 1800 Blanco Tequila or 1800 Reposado Tequila
-
1 part orange liqueur
-
1 part lime juice (adjust to taste)
-
4 jalapeño rounds
-
Some coarse salt
-
A few lime wedges
Instructions
We're going to start the same way we would if we were making a classic margarita. Start by running a lime wedge along the rim of your margarita glass. Dip into coarse salt and set aside.
Here's where things change. Add three jalapeño rounds to your cocktail shaker. (Be sure to take out jalapeño seeds if you don't want your margarita too spicy.) Muddle thoroughly. Then, add the 1800 tequila of your choosing, orange liqueur, lime juice, and a handful of ice. Shake thoroughly for 20 seconds or so. Strain into your prepared glass.
Garnish with a jalapeño round. Serve and enjoy!
