Wine Spectator Review
Elegant, polished, supple and complex, with pretty currant, cedar, anise, sage and tar notes. Turns firmly tannic. Drink now through 2008.
Wine Tasting Notes
Already slowed by El Nino's winter flooding, the growing season of 1998 extended into late October, promoting a very long ripening period for Opus One's grapes.
Supple and lush, the 1998 Opus One shows an opaque purple color and intense aromas of blackberries, vanilla, and roasted espresso. The wine offers superb balance, a resilient middle body and a seamless texture.
Cabernet Sauvignon 91%, Cabernet Franc 7%, Merlot 1%, Petit Verdot and Malbec 1%
