admittedly, I am not knowledgeable on the ends and outs of liquor. I have drank plain E & J for years. This week,  rite-aide had a sale, and thus I purchased E & J VSOP. The difference was immediately noticeable. The taste was smooth, creamy, and wonderful. I did not know what others meant by smooth tasting, until now. I will never drink plain E & J again.
