Freshly melted chocolate mixes into a Black Forest cake. The bright fruits of Merlot become apparent as the wine opens, combining with the chocolate into black currants, with hints of sage and plum reduction. Well integrated tannins provide the smooth, structured mouthfeel of Cabernet Sauvignon which hangs on through the finish, accented with a slightly white pepper spice - compliments of the Petit Verdot.
This bold wine is best enjoyed with a main course of red meat like steak, pasta bolognaise and is also a wonderful accompaniment to hors d'oeuvres platters serving strong, aged cheeses (gouda, cheddar) and rich peppery charcuterie (bresaola, salami).
