House of the Dragon takes place years before the timeline of Game of Thrones. We're talking 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. We all know Daenerys Targaryen. "Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains..." 172 years before her! That's a long time. The dragon-riding Targaryens bring the fire in this spinoff! If you're worried that you won't like House of the Dragon as much as Game of Thrones because it's so far removed in terms of timeline, put your worry to bed. It's worth it, and if you're anything like me, you'll be all in after the first episode.
The series is centered solely on the Targaryens and their reign over Westeros. Viserys Targaryen is king and finds himself torn when deciding who he should choose as heir. Should it be his brother Daemon? Should it be his daughter Rhaenyra? Or should it be his son, Aegon, from his now wife, Alicent of House Hightower?
The tension is palpable, and the struggle is real for King Viserys.
The drama grows with each episode! Viserys finds himself at war with himself, his daughter, his brother, and even his seat on the throne.
This series brings all the heat--more dragons, more drama, and more power-hungry Targaryens fighting for the throne.
